With increasing employment opportunities for women and the growing need to supplement household income, more and more women are entering the job market. With the breaking up of joint family system and the increasing number of nuclear families, working women need support in terms of quality, substitute care for their young children while they are at work. Crèche and Day Care Services are not required by working mothers but also women belonging to poor families, who require support and relief for childcare as they struggle to cope with burden of activities, within and outside the home.Under this scheme children in the age group of 0-6 years are provided Nutrition. The children are also being imparted pre-primary education through play-way method. An Expenditure of Rs. 1,51,660/- per annum is being spent on every crèche. Besides an amount of 10,000/- is also sanctioned during the first year for purchase of equipment etc. 100% expenditure on the scheme is being met by the Government of India through Central Social Welfare Board.
Under this scheme a grant of 3.20 lakh is provided to an NGO/Voluntary Organization for setting up of a Family Counseling Centre to provide counseling to women to sort out their family / matrimonial disputes. Each Family Counseling Centers is provided 2 qualified Counselors, one Typist and one Peon.
Presently there are four Swadhar Greh functioning. Earlier two Swadhar Shelter Homes were sanctioned during 2005-06 for the earth quake victims of Poonch (Jammu) and Karnah (Kashmir) and till now are functioning. But now these are converted into Swadhar Greh . In addition to these two more Swadhar Greh are added. Presently, there are 4 Swadhar Greh being funded by the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Govt. of India. Short Stay Home , Neha Ghar, being run by NGO ASHI (Association for Social Health in India) at Jammu is converted into Swadhar Greh. Fourth – Swadhar Greh, Rahat Ghar & Training Institute is run by NGO, Guild of Service, at Tangmarg, Baramulla in Kashmir.
